Sustainable Fashion Night at the Tesla Motors Manhattan
The Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce introduces Sustainable Style Night to Fashion Week. Partnering with the cutting-edge automobile company, Tesla’s Chelsea Showroom, the event hits NYC Fashion Week in a fresh and exciting way. This exclusive night features the sustainable designs of Tesla’s premium electric cars, complemented by emerging fashion designer Ashley McAleavy’s eco-friendly couture line, Remedy Designs as well as Nais lingerie, Kallio Kids, My Fabulous Puppy, Mink Shoes and Thaddaeus Timothy. With the these trendsetting companies headlining, Style Night is a pulsing and unique occasion focused on the importance of sustainability.
On Monday, September 9th, from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm at the Tesla Showroom, 511 W. 25th Street, Tesla Style Night offers beer from Ithaca Beer, hor d’oeuvres from Ellary’s Greens and liquor from The Nobel Experiment, and features Telsa’s line of stylish and sustainable cars. On this night celebrating fashion, design, and sustainability, models mingle with guests, showcasing Remedy Designs’ Summer/Spring 2014 Collection throughout the evening, alongside a full runway show projected on the showroom walls. Spirit & Flesh Fashion Week Launch
Jump start New York Fashion Week Wednesday, September 4, as Sony Music SVP & Creative Director Christopher Austopchuk launches the second issue of his Spirit & Flesh magazine with music and fashion industry insiders aboard New York City’s luxe floating event space, Hornblower Infinity. The event will benefit RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization, ranked as one of “America’s 100 Best Charities” by Worth magazine and feature a performance by Columbia Recording Artist and American synthpop duo CHAIRLIFT.

Indeed, it is widely believed that most male fashion designers are gay. Is this just a stereotype? Or do gay men really have a special relationship with fashion? To what extent have lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people also made significant contributions to fashion? Fashion and style have played an important role within the LGBTQ (lesbian-gay-bisexual- transgender-queer) community, both pre- and post-Stonewall, and even as early as the eighteenth. century.
